Walk-A-Thon is this coming Friday, Oct ober 18th from 3-6pm!


what is it?

  • WAT is one of SMTF’s main fundraisers for the year.

  • Our goal is to raise $45K for SMTF. This is attainable if every student collects $85 in pledges.

  • Your child will love walking around our Simonds track to raise funds for our music and technology programs!

  • WAT is a fun community-building event for our school.

How do I register and collect donations?

(1) Register below. Everyone is welcome to participate!

Choose your level of participation:

  • Walk for fun + $50.00 minimum donation for a 2019 WAT t-shirt (school uniform approved) and lap prizes

  • Walk for fun + $10.00 donation for a lap card and prizes

    (Jr. Walkers and/or Simonds Siblings are welcome at this level. Walkers registered for lap cards may pick up the lap cards the day of WAT at the registration tables.)

  • Walk for fun

The online registration deadline has been extended to October 16th. Paper registrations will continue to be accepted during the week of WAT.

(2) Collect pledges!

  • Send the "Pledge and Walk" link to your friends, family, and neighbors. Tip: Take a picture by one of the Simondsland signs at school and send it along with your request for a pledge!

  • Online registrations and pledges preferred. You can also fill out the registration form found below and return it to school along with your cash/check pledges (make checks payable to SMTF).

  • Every dollar you collect helps benefit our music and technology programs!

  • Lap prizes are given for 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 laps walked

  • Top Pledge Earner in each grade

  • Top Lap Walker in each grade

  • GRAND PRIZE to TOP PLEDGE EARNER for the school

Class Prizes

Golden Shoe award given to the class in each grade that raises the most money.

volunteers needed

Being a school-wide event, Walk-A-Thon is in need of parents, middle school, and high school volunteers! Hourly shifts are available and the duties vary.

We are also looking for volunteers to serve in the key role of MC and Simonds Cougar mascot. Contact if interested!

In person paper registrations will be available in front of the cafeteria before school from 8:40 to 9:10 am and after school from 2:30 to 3:10pm.

Monday, October 14

Teacher Treats Online Auction opens at 9am. Bids accepted until 6pm on Friday, October 18th.

Tuesday, October 15

  • Golden Ticket Coloring Contest Submissions due! Turn into the front office.

WALK-A-THON!! The day is here! Come enjoy time with our community, get fit, all while raising money towards our amazing Simonds Music and Technology Foundation. It’s a win-win for all!!

what to expect before walk-a-thon

  • All students who have registered and met the minimum $50 donation to qualify for a WAT T-shirt by October 11th, either through paper or online registration, will receive their t-shirt on October 15th during the classroom t-shirt distribution.

  • T-shirt sizes will be distributed on a first-come, first serve basis. T-shirt sizes will be limited the longer you wait, so register and make at least a $50 donation today! Also remember even smaller donations on behalf of a named student that together add up to $50 will qualify for a t-shirt.

  • WAT T-shirts are school uniform approved for use throughout the year!

  • Volunteers on the day of WAT are greatly needed to make this event a success! Please consider signing up to volunteer for a time slot on iVolunteer. Highschoolers welcome!

  • Golden Ticket Coloring Contest: Win a chance to walk the first lap of WAT with Ms. Metz by entering the Golden Ticket Coloring Contest. All entries received will be put into a drawing where one student from each grade level will win this opportunity. Look for contest details in October 7th’s White Envelope.

  • Teacher Treats and Silent Auction items: Teacher Treats are a wonderful chance for your student to spend valuable quality time with their teachers. Each grade level of Simonds teachers work together to create a unique and memorable experience for your student.

  • Be sure to bid for one of these coveted spots! You will also be able to bid on auction items such as graduation seats, musical performance seats, and more! Details for the Teacher Treats and Silent Auction items will follow in the October 7th White Envelope.

  • WAT Spirit Color Day: On Friday, October 11th students are invited to wear as many colors as they can to show their support for this year’s WAT theme “Journey through Simondsland".

  • SMTF Movie Night: Also on Friday, October 11th, SMTF would like to thank the Simonds community for your support and dedication to music and technology at Simonds. All Simonds families are invited to a complimentary viewing of “Toy Story 4” (subject to change). The winner of the WAT t-shirt design contest will be revealed!

What to expect on the day of the Walk-A-Thon?

  • WAT day of event registration for T-shirts and lap cards starts at 2pm. Pledges can be made in cash or check (checks written to SMTF). The possibility of accepting credit card pledges is subject to availability. T-shirt sizes will be limited! Remember lap cards available with a $10.00 donation for Jr. Walkers and Simonds Siblings are a great way to get lap prizes without a t-shirt.

    • If your student received a WAT t-shirt, please have him/her wear it to school on the day of WAT. All t-shirts must be worn forward-facing during WAT as the laps will be marked on the back of the shirt.

    • If your student signed up for a lap card only, please pick up the lap card at the WAT registration table.

    • If your student plans to walk for fun, please still complete the registration form!

  • Please bring a water bottle! Water will be available at each lap check-in tent.

  • Please direct your participating student to proceed to the appropriate grade level tent on the field at 3pm.


  • Wonderful lap prizes are given the day of WAT for 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, laps.

    • All lap totals must be recorded before the “Last Lap” table closes in order to qualify for addtiional prizes.

  • Cash-only food trucks and a snack shack featuring Amato’s pizza will be available for your purchase! We know kids get hungry after school so there will be plenty of options during the Walk-A-Thon!

  • We walk rain or shine so be prepared! Think hats, sunscreen, comfortable shoes, socks, and possibly sweatshirts. Parents and supporters who are not walking are invited to bring a chair or blanket.
